For students who can still afford textbooks, there could be a refreshing new option on the horizon - or at the very least, a slight change of venue for the ineluctable buying, bargaining and bickering that comes about this time each semester. With all the talk of rising costs, the possibility of legislative intervention and, at NSU, the uncertainty regarding University Bookstore's new operator, another player with a trick or two up his sleeve has suddenly added himself to the equation.

Next semester, window decals are slated to replace rearview mirror hangtag parking permits.
"This decision was made for security reasons," said Robert Crew, Executive Assistant to the President. "This will prevent students from taking the permits off and giving them to friends to access the campus at night.

Natchitoches recently began a major project to clean and repair the well-known bricks that form Front Street. The lengthy project, however, has already begun affecting businesses located on Front Street, which is one of the city's popular sites for shopping and tourism.
